Llucmajor has the largest municipal territory in Majorca, stretching from the island's interior plain to the south coast. James III, the last king of Majorca, died under its walls in 1349, and Capocorb Vell, one of the best-preserved Talayotic villages on the whole island, is located in its territory.

The largest municipality on the island
Llucmajor has the largest municipal territory in Majorca, and there are twenty kilometres between the town and its coast: those who live in the centre go to the sea by car just as one would go to another town.
The dry-stone «marjades»
The dry-stone walls that support the fields are still repaired by hand, without mortar, using the traditional technique: it is a recognised trade and there are still craftsmen who do it.
The «ametllers» in bloom in February
Around the town, the expanses of almond trees bloom white at the end of January, and Majorcans go out by car to see them. It lasts two weeks and you know when it starts by looking at the fields.
